Is it me, or when warmer temps hit, do you want clothing that doesn’t stick to your body? Maybe that’s me just being old and cranky, but having clingy clothing in the summertime is something I try to avoid. Yes, there will be times when I wear tighter pieces (not sure I could avoid that all the way, I do like to see my shape every once in awhile, ha!), but for the most part you’ll find me in a flowy top like this one.
There are so many good things happening with this striped top; bell sleeves, embroidery, lightweight and flowy. If you’re looking for a top to move you from the cooler temps into the warmer days, I would highly recommend this one. Currently, it’s on sale for 40% off and the sizes are going quick, so if you like it, don’t hesitate! I am wearing my normal size (size small) and it fits slightly oversized, but that’s how it’s made. I normally can do petite sizes in Loft clothing, but the arms were just a bit too short on this top, so back to regular I went.
Okay, moving onto the perfect pair of distressed denim shorts. You all know I love a good pair of distressed denim jeans, but come summertime I don’t usually buy a lot of jean shorts. I have a hard time, for some reason, finding the right fit and style that I like and so I avoid them and stick with fun prints, tie waists and flattering cuts. However, I purchased these on a whim one day knowing that I don’t have any dark denim, distressed shorts and they fit perfectly. There is only distressing on the hem where it’s slightly frayed, but no holes at all, which I like incase I want to wear them to work. They’re also a good length, which is important because this girl isn’t looking to show off her backside like that. 🙂 I did size down one size in these and they still fit just a bit loose, but I like that feel for summertime. Hence the aforementioned non-clingy clothing.
Lastly – the espadrilles. I purchased these last year and so sizes are very limited, but they’re still available and are one of my favorite sandals for spring and summer. They look great super casual or worn with a dress and are really comfortable. I will mention two things to beware of though – one, the tie around the ankle is pretty short. You definitely can’t make a bow, so I usually make a knot and let the ends dangle. I’ve worn the tie wrapped around back and front and it’s comfy either way. Two, don’t get caught in a rain storm with these on. Super hard to walk, your suede gets all wet and your heel will start to want to slip through the wrap. I know that’s a random tip that probably won’t happen, but hey, that’s what I’m here for. Other than that, they’re a delight. Oh and they come in two other colors. I’ve linked them in the Splendid site below, but they also are on Amazon in another shade and varying sizes – linked here.
