My favorite items of the week – fashion, design & baking
There are several closet staples that will never go out of style. For handbags, one, is a classic leather tote. But two, is a clutch with a fun pattern and bold color. The pattern on this adorable clutch is classically simple and the colors are just bold enough to draw attention, but not be anything trendy and unusable within a year. Boejack design on Etsy has a wide variety of clutches and bags that will suit most people’s taste. This gold, black and grey one was the first one that caught my eye. I can picture it with so many different outfits; you can add a punch to a plain white tee and jeans or pair it with a little black dress for a date night. So, so cute and under $60! Be sure to check out their other designs as they have so many great patterns and bag shapes.
Because I have a pretty intense creative side to me, the littlest of artsy things make me swoon. Lined envelopes and stationary sets are one of them. Please, please, please don’t buy plain ol’ boring notecards and stationary sets from the store. There are SO many options on Etsy and Minted and you’re supporting a local artist/craftsman, let’s say – it just makes sense. I am always on Etsy looking for new things – people to showcase, products I want, creative ideas, etc. Just recently these watercolor notecards struck my eye. For whatever reason, I am a sucker for anything watercolor. Little known fact – when I was in Architecture school everyone else was drawing out their project (I think this was year 3 of school) and I did mine all in watercolor. It was one of my absolute favorite pieces I ever did (I still have it!). Not because the building I designed was that amazing, but because the different shades of blue watercolor looked so effortless and calming on the stark white paper: This stationary set gives me the same feeling. Nice job Your Paper Fix.
For those of you who don’t think these make sense to purchase, hear me out. This time of year is beyond perfect for baking. There is the start of school, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Lots and lots of opportunity to find a favorite recipe and give the gift of baking instead of a physical gift. Mini loaf pans are so perfect for gift giving or even parties! Make a loaf for each of your child’s teachers, or do several mini loaves for a dinner party. Mini loaves come in handy more than you would care to believe or think about. And, if you’re not a baker, these pans also make a pretty amazing gift. Print out a recipe, tie a ribbon around them and give it all as a gift; it’s a well-thought out plan that the recipient can only love. These loaf pans are 20% off right now with free shipping, so even if you don’t think you need them, think ahead and they may just serve a purpose you didn’t know you had 🙂
