Trifecta Tuesday | Top Picks for Fashion, Design & Baking
Emerging out as a front runner for a top trend for fall this year are mules. Mules were popular back when I was in elementary and I loved them then, and I still love them now. They’re incredibly easy to wear and can be worn in place of when you would normally wear a flat. If you’re new to the mule world, I would start with a pointier toe. It doesn’t have to be a razor point, but something that is going to elongate the foot. These BP mules are a really good starter shoe, as they have a pointed toe, but it’s just slightly rounded at the end. They come in a variety of colors, but if you’re trying these out for the first time, I’d suggest staying neutral – this color is the grey suede. Otherwise, you run the risk of never being able to wear them because they don’t “go” with anything. Can we also please look at the adorable bow detail? So, so cute and right up my alley. Incase you haven’t noticed bows on everything are where it’s at this year and I don’t see that going anywhere for fall.
2. The Emily + Meritt Oversized Leopard Rug
I don’t know if you’ve had time to look at PB Teen lately (I know, random), but they have some really amazing things that are not only cool for teens, just saying. The Emily + Meritt collaboration came across my Domino feed and it intrigued me to say the least. Then when I actually did a dive into PB Teen’s website, I was shocked at how much I would actually put into my home (and I have no teenagers, or kids, or reason). Now, there is a lot of stuff would appeal to teenagers. I don’t need a surfboard mirror or a football poster, but I’m telling you, if you have some time, it’s worth a look. For instance, this leopard rug. Um, it’s amazing. I love the bold print of the leopard and if it’s underneath a piece of furniture it almost just becomes big dots of sorts. The colors are great neutrals and this would be SO fun to liven up an office or sunroom or guest bedroom. It’s a pretty good price too, the 5×8 will run you $399 and PB Teen usually has some good sales, so be on the lookout.
3. Wilton 9 Piece Starter Decorating Tip Set
So, I know a lot of you are going to think that you don’t need this and will never use it, but, if you’ve ever been consumed with icing anything – cupcakes, cookies, brownies, whatever then consider a tip set and icing bag. These little tips are lifesavers for saving time – remember when you had to ice those cupcakes for a baby shower, child’s party, school party? Well, all you need is the larger round tip and you can ice a cupcake in less than a minute with four circles of icing. Plus, look how fancy your cupcake is now! I mean, if you’re buying pre-made cupcakes that already look amazing, of course you don’t need a tip set, but some of us like to make homemade desserts (no judgment if you’re buying your cupcakes) and for those people, these tips are worth looking into. Even if it’s not a set, they sell tips individually at places like Hobby Lobby and Michaels and you can get the exact one you’re looking for.
