02.27.17 | Living Room/Dining Room Reveal – Part One
I moved to Arizona just over 2 years ago and it’s finally starting to feel like home. We’ve moved a couple of times throughout those 2 years to try and find the right neighborhood that suited us and finally settled on South Scottsdale. We’ve been in this rental for just under 6 months and while it still has things that are ongoing projects, I wanted to give you a glimpse to where we’re at today. Now I will mention that since it’s a rental (and we have no clue how long we’ll stay here) I haven’t done any painting/wallpapering/etc. so I’ve had to stick with design items that will make it feel like a home with actually altering things like lighting and colors. With that being said….welcome to our home.

I love this gallery wall in the living room. It’s a great way to show an overview of our lives together with a mix of imagery, paintings, shapes, etc. I’m thinking of wrapping it around the corner and onto the other wall too. Either that, or putting a large standing mirror against that wall. What do you guys think?
Meet Swinston. Part Himalayan, Part Siamese, Full Attitude. He likes to think he runs this house.
A big shout out to Rug Pad USA for the rug pads in both our living room and kitchen. The one in the living room gives an extra boost of comfort under the rug and with the rubber backing that rug literally goes no where. I tried to shift it the other day and had to get help, ha! This pad is called Superior Lock, but for a full product listing of what’s available just take a look around their website. I personally like that they manufacture all of their pads in Georgia. As you know, USA products make me super happy. And while a rug pad isn’t super exciting, it is quite handy in a home!
I love succulents as decor around the house. They’re virtually maintenance-free and they add just a bit of greenery to brighten things up. Even better was I bought these at Trader Joes for just under $3 each! Bonus was they came in the cute, little terra cotta pots.
Meet Praia. The other animal of the house. She’s a Portuguese Water Dog (with a mohawk haircut) and is an extreme princess. She also thinks she rules the house.
Rug Pad #2 as I mentioned above from Rug Pad USA is the Anchor Grip pad. This extremely thin pad may not look like much, but it has been super helpful in keeping our kitchen runner grounded to the floor. Especially with pets running around, our rug stays in place and that makes me a happy lady. I also like the fact that even though the rug doesn’t have a standard backing, the rug pad still grips to it and does it’s job.
This reclaimed wood table is my boyfriend’s baby. A LOT of sweat and tears went into this project and the outcome is amazing. We get compliments on it from everyone who walks in the door. I’ve paired it with the classic ghost chair as to not distract from it’s beauty. Yes, I would have loved to “style” the table a bit, but I can appreciate the pure gorgeousness of it.
Okay, that’s it! I hoped you enjoyed the little mini tour of our living room/dining room/kitchen! Be on the lookout for Part Two where I go into more detail and give you links on where you can buy the decor or similar items! Happy Monday everyone.
xoxo
Michelle
