The holiday season is the perfect time to come up with fun, crafty ideas for gift wrapping those special presents that you’ve been purchasing for the past 2 months!
I love a good, wrapped gift. It has become my specialty and a way to show off some of my creative skills and ideas. I’m always on the hunt for pretty or unusual wrapping paper and even if I don’t need it right then, I know I’ll use it soon enough. You can even shop for holiday papers year round. It doesn’t have to be all Christmas themed paper: mix and match it!
The three wrapping papers shown are all from Target. They have a great selection this year! But, if for some reason you’re not drawn to any of them, The Container Store and Paper Source are also great options. I tend to not lean toward the traditional Christmas look and feel, so mine are more graphic in appearance and then I brought in the fox paper for the reds and snowflakes. Had I coordinated the ribbons or accessories (like the tags or bells) these three papers go together quite nicely, but I wanted to show you various ideas, so these are more for separate gifting.
The middle one shown below uses a graphic, leopard paper (I love that it is silver foil!) and a black and white striped ribbon. This ribbon gives everything an updated, modern look. I use it year round. I also added a white tag which I sprayed with adhesive and sprinkled some “large” glitter onto. I kept it non-traditional because I LOVED the shade of the blue glitter (a cute idea would be to assign a different color of glitter to each person in your family and then you don’t even have to a write a name!). Once the ribbon and tag were attached I placed sprig of a Christmas tree branch in there to give it a little Christmas flair. You can just put a dab of hot glue to secure it in place.
The gift below and on the right incorporates a doily, mini gold envelope/tag, red and white ribbon and jingle bells. I found the doily and gold envelope/tag (adorable!) at Hobby Lobby (the doily is in the baking section, they come in a pack of 8 and various widths). The bells and ribbon came from Michaels, although I’m sure other places carry them as well. Adding a doily to your wrapping paper gives it such a pretty, vintage look and in this example it goes perfect with the half moon paper. I just adhered the doily to half of the present, looped on the bells to the ribbon and tied a simple bow and it was ready to go! The gold envelope tucked in there quite nicely and brought out the gold glitter that’s in the wrapping paper.
