Slip on sneakers | 11.12.15
Slip on sneakers aren’t a new trend. It’s something that started getting popular this summer and has now made a full fledge campaign into fall and winter. They’re so easy, it’s ridiculous and I think because of that, people have a hard time figuring out how to wear them with anything other than super casual outfits (think – yoga pants and t-shirts).
I’m wearing the awesomely cute slip-ons from H&M. Yes, they are a snakeskin print and have a slight pink/purple color to them. Who cares? They seriously go with everything. Have fun with your clothing and accessories. Mix textures and prints. You’ll be amazed at how many combinations you can come up with. Above I have on my slip-ons with a simple black dress, but have paired it with a brightly colored scarf (a great brunch outfit). None of the colors technically “go together,” but it all works. Slip-ons also go great with an A-line or shift dress, or even an long dress. Think of them as another pair of flats with a sporty flair. Some fancier dresses need that sporty flair to tone them down so you can wear them during the day. A pair of sneaker slip-ons will do the trick and still look great.
Below, I’ve paired them with a more classic, solid jean and striped top (side note – this top is SO comfy and made in the USA – bonus points in my book). I’ve made the shoes the “color” of the outfit and mixed the snakeskin texture with stripes. If you wanted to go a little more daring, try a snakeskin printed pant or top and pair them with these slip-ons. Look at you being all crazy.
Left option – This shoe is from Target and has such a fun leopard pattern. Pair this with a solid color or with a pattern. They would look great with a bright red plaid and a pair of black skinny jeans. These are only $16.99, so at that price you can afford to play around them and see if they work well with your clothing you have already.
Middle option – While this shoe is a neutral color, the texture is amazing. This will probably be the best option if you want to ease into the slip-on phenomenon. The color will be simple to pair with outfits for a newbie and you’ll still have some interest with the texture. Rachel Zoe knows her stuff. You really can’t go wrong. But…because of this, you’ll pay much more. These babies will run you a cool $99.95. Worth the money? You decide. I think you’ll get some good wear out of them, so I’d say gift them to yourself for an early Christmas present. Don’t act like you haven’t done that before.
Right option – I was so excited when I found this option from Keds. One, because Keds is such a staple brand. I remember always getting the classic white shoe my first day of school. Everyone had them and everyone loved them. Two, because they’ve kept with trends and traditions and shifted over the years to appeal to more people and in my opinion, it’s working and I like the transformation. They’re still around and I still want a pair. Yes, these are sequined slip-ons, but the color is neutral and the pattern is subdued. You can get away with pairing these with almost anything – jeans, skirts, dresses, shorts. In my head, I’m envisioning them with a polka dot top and any kind of bottom. Seem a little odd, try it out. Have fun. The ones shown are gold, but they also come in silver or black in the same pattern/texture. They cost $70, so middle of the road for a pair of shoes that will brighten your wardrobe.
I hope this has inspired you to grab a pair when you see them. I mean, I LOVE a good heel, but sometimes you just need an easy slip-on to go run errands or grab a bite. The prices, as you can see are all over the place, so if you’re unsure, go with an inexpensive pair and then upgrade when you fall in love. They are a fall wardrobe staple.
These slip-on sneakers are a great idea, and I love the new pictures showing them off! 🙂
Thanks Jennifer!

These are all so cute! I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a bit behind the trend, but this helps me a lot! 🙂
Glad to hear it! Trends are easy to fall behind on. I’m hoping these stick around for a bit 🙂
