My Weekly Picks for Trifecta Tuesday – Fashion, Design & Baking
There are a couple items from the Nordstrom Sale that haven’t gotten quite the hype that they should, and one of them, are these booties. They come in 3 colors (my favorite is the New Foxy color shown above), are under $100 and all sizes are available. These low cut booties look adorable with skinny jeans, leggings, dresses and skirts just the same. Actually, now that I think about it, they also look good with jean shorts. So, basically, wear them with anything, besides maybe formal wear 🙂 The laser cut and braiding detailing give these booties a little extra something special and I love that they dip down on each side. Check these out if you’re still on the hunt for a fall bootie as these may just be the ones for you! But, just remember to buy them now before the price jumps up to $150 after the sale.
As you’ve probably figured out by now if you’ve followed my blog for awhile is that I’m always searching for new pieces of furniture, artwork, storage pieces, etc. to have around the house. No space is ever finished, it’s all just evolving. And so that brings me to be on the lookout for a mid century modern dresser of sorts for my office. I’m severely lacking storage in my office, and it came to me a couple of weeks ago that a mcm dresser would work perfectly because vintage pieces have so many cabinets and shelves for all of my craft/art projects. This sent me down a rabbit hole of looking for affordable mcm pieces (because, well, i’m not made of money). I found a local company – Twigs and Twine in Phoenix that restores mid century modern pieces in updated colors and brings them back to life, so I’ve been patiently stalking their facebook page to see what new pieces come in store each month. Literally, you have to buy their pieces immediately because if you hesitate (like I did last week) someone else buys it and that perfect piece you loved is now in someone else’s home. Sigh. So, this very long story, brings me to their sister company Draftwood Design. This local company recreates the look of the mid century modern pieces in new build form. If you don’t have the time or patience to wait for the vintage piece of your dream, then this is the next best thing. Take a look at their different designs and wood options. It takes about 4-6 weeks to get it delivered, but it’ll be the custom piece of furniture that you’ve always wanted.
Do you ever get bored making the same ol muffins or bread to go along with brunch or dinner? Carb haters earmuffs for this one. I keep seeing popover recipes come up in my ever extensive recipe searches and I’ve been really excited to try them. But, alas, I have no popover pan…until now. For those of you who are like, what is a popover?! It is a light and airy type muffin that, in most cases is savory. Because of their lightness, they pair perfectly with brunch items. And, because baking requires a million different pans to do certain things – they require a popover pan. This pan resembles a muffin tin, but the wells are taller and thinner as for the batter to “popover” the top. Interested to try one yet? Well, I’ll let you know how it goes. Sometimes my genius ideas are disasters…ahh, such is life. 🙂
