Sleep Routine | 04.27.17
I get asked all of the time how I get all of my work done AND get a good night’s sleep, so being that it’s National Sleep Awareness Week, I thought I would share with you some of my nightly routine! In a perfect world I would always have the above items handy, but sometimes just a couple of them will do.
First all, let me say that I am lucky enough to not have any sleeping issues. I can fall asleep right away and honestly get by with anywhere from 5-8 hours of sleep (mostly 5-6, ha!), so that leaves me a good chunk of my day to be productive. Sometimes that happens, sometimes not so much.
To start my routine off, I love, love, love a good pj set. A tank and short set in the summer and a long sleeve and legging set in the winter. I literally throw on my pjs immediately when I get home from work because they’re so cozy. I try my best to buy cute ones so to please my boyfriend (it’s the thought that counts, right?!), but I’m not perfect, so sometimes cute, means comfy to me, ha!
Once I’m in my pjs, my only nightly getting ready routine is to wash my face, put on moisturizer and this Perricone M.D. firming eye cream. I started to notice the area around my eyes looking a little drab and tired, so I did a search for night eye creams and this one had great reviews. It’s a little pricey for how small a container you get, but I wake up each morning with a plump, refreshed eye area, so I feel it’s well worth the money.
After that’s all done, it’s time for bed and the ambiance is what makes my night’s sleep the best. Bright, freshly-laundered sheets ( I love this one from Crane and Canopy), a fresh bouquet of flowers (I love keeping a vase by the bed to wake up next to the smell of flowers) and interior design books are always near by. I’m a sucker for learning about design, so any kind of design book is my guilty pleasure. Two of my favs right now are Design Sponge and The Things That Matter. Last, but not least I almost always have a candle lit somewhere in the house. Nothing too overwhelming, but just a soothing smell. Right now, I’m in LOVE with EastCreek Candle Co’s Man Candle, in the smell Teakwood. It has a musk type smell that is so subtle, yet so calming.
That’s my routine! Nothing fancy, nothing tricky, just plain ol’ ideas that help me get a great night’s sleep! How about you guys; is there something you have to do before you go to sleep? Remember that sleep is so important to your skin, you’re well-being and to other’s around you! Don’t take it for granted. Have a great, restful day!
